Project Description

The 17-story residential tower and adjacent four-story health club are a dramatic addition to the Mumbai skyline. Due to the intense sun, the Architect incorporated large curved sunshades, which span up to 50 feet from column to column. The sunshades were designed with a lightweight truss and clad with formed aluminum with a metallic silver coating. The primary building facade is comprised of unitized curtain wall, which incorporates operable vents, louvers and terrace doors. Other features of the facade include large skylights over the main entrances to the building; cantilevered canopies, which span approximately 120 feet; and a radiused structural glass storefront and entrances around the entire base of the tower and health club. Due to the shape of the building, a custom building maintenance access system was designed to maintain the facade.
