We utilize advanced software programs to generate structural models of components, assemblies and systems. We layer loads modeling to include numerous factors and illustrate the full range of possible conditions on the building. Not only does it validate a design, but helps optimize the materials and reduce labor cost of the facade, as well.

Structural Calculations

During the early stages of the facade design, we develop preliminary calculations to address system massing, approximation of spanning members and the dynamics between the primary structure and facade. As the project evolves, we review facade mockups and project structural calculation submittals for compliance with specifications and local conditions.

Energy Calculations

Building facades comprise one of the largest elements of energy impact on building design. We simulate the environment and building exposure during the concept stage and throughout the design evolution. This highly-valued data is then utilized to produce inventive facade options that reduce energy loads and increase comfort for building occupants.

Solar Modeling

With the availability of micro- and macro-climate data, we are able to generate solar models that optimize natural facade day lighting, allowing us to develop shading strategies. In dense urban environments, the modeling provides valuable data pertaining to the impact of adjacent structures on the new facade elements.
